Speech Language Pathologists

Mona Mehta, M.A., CCC-SLP

​​

Mona Mehta comes to Specialized Speech in November 2008. She earned her undergraduate degree in Mumbai, India and graduated with a Master’s Degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has experience working in schools, outpatient clinics and in nursing homes. She has worked with children of all age groups with a wide variety of speech and language disorders.

She is particularly interested in infant feeding and swallowing disorders and has continued to gain knowledge and experience in this area throughout her career. She is certified in DPNS and Vital Stim, both which are techniques used in the treatment of swallowing disorders. She is certified with the American Speech and Hearing Association, and is licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech and Hearing Association. She is also a member of the Ohio Speech, Language and Hearing Association (OSHLA).

Speech-Language Pathologist

Lauren Bracale, M.A., CCC-SLP

Lauren joined Specialized Speech Technologies in May of 2022. She graduated from Ohio University in 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. In 2021, she received a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from The University of Toledo. 

During graduate school, Lauren gained experience working with pediatric and adult clients in a variety of settings, including schools, acute care, and clinics including teletherapy.  Currently, she is working full time in the school system as a preschool speech therapist. Lauren particularly enjoys working with students with speech sound disorders, language disorders, and early intervention. 

 

Lauren is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology, American Speech and Hearing Association, and the Ohio Department of Education.

Speech-Language Pathologist

 Allison Haviland, M.S., CCC-SLP

 

Allie Haviland joined Specialized Speech Technologies in July 2013.  She earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Bowling Green State University, and has obtained the Certificate of Clinical Competence with ASHA. She is also licensed through the Ohio Board of Speech and Hearing Professionals and the Ohio Department of Education. Allie has led as the Speech Therapy Department Head at SST, Inc. for two years, but stepped down in 2018 to focus on her passion, serving children with communication needs. She has served children with speech and language disorders in local school districts as well as the clinic setting. Allie enjoys working with pediatric patients, and has interests in a variety of communication disorders. Her areas of strength are in the assessment and treatment of articulation and phonological disorders, language disorders, and fluency disorders.

Vaselea (Lea) Mathias, M.A., CFY-SLP

 

Vaselea ("Lea") Mathias joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in August of 2024. Lea earned her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Cleveland State University. She also earned her master's degree in Speech Language Pathology at Cleveland State University.

 

During graduate school, Lea gained experience with both children and adults in a variety of settings including, the university clinic, adult daycares, and an elementary school. Lea enjoys working with the pediatric population and is especially interested in working with speech sound disorders, language, and fluency.

 

Currently, Lea is working full-time in the schools. She is looking forward to gaining experience working in different settings and with various populations. She is currently a clinical fellow. She currently has her Ohio Speech and Hearing Professional Board Conditional License and is working towards her license with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology. She is also licensed by the Ohio Department of Education.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Lauren Rovner, M.S., CCC-SLP

Lauren Rovner joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in September 2019. Lauren earned her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. She completed her Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology at Purdue University.

 

During graduate school, Lauren gained experience with both children and adults in a variety of settings including, the university clinic, an assisted living facility, and schools. Lauren enjoys working with all populations with a variety of speech and language needs. She is especially interested in working with individuals who stutter and augmentative and alternative communication. 

 

Currently, Lauren is working full-time in the schools and also works part-time in the clinic. She is looking forward to gaining experience working in different settings and with various populations. She is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology, the Ohio Department of Education, and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

 Maggie Schultz, M.A., CCC-SLP

 

Maggie Schultz joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in October 2020. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science and a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at the Ohio State University.

 

During graduate school, Maggie gained experience working with pediatric and adult clients in a variety of settings, including schools, inpatient rehabilitation, and university clinic.  She enjoys working with the pediatric population, and is especially interested in the clinical areas of language and literacy.

 

Maggie is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and the Ohio Department of Education.

Morgan Shaner, M.A., CCC-SLP

Morgan Shaner joined the Specialized Speech Team in August 2012. She graduated from The Ohio State University, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Morgan is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and the Ohio Department of Education, and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She has been serving preschool and school-age children with a variety of speech and language disorders in local school districts and the clinic setting for the past 7 years. Morgan particularly enjoys working with preschoolers; her areas of strength are in the assessment and treatment of articulation/phonology disorders and language disorders.

Melanie Shultz, M.A., CCC-SLP

 

Melanie Shultz, M.A.,CCC-SLP is the President of Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. She earned her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the American Speech Language Association and the International Association of Orofacial Myology.She is licensed by the Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board. Melanie specializes in Orofacial Myology (Tongue Rest Posture, Nasal Breathing and Thumb Sucking Elimination). She has been in practice since 1997 where she worked for a contract company and private practice until October 2001 at which time she opened Specialized Speech Technologies as her own private practice. The Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. Team has been proud to serve the Columbus, Ohio area providing quality Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy services for the past 20 years.

Orofacial Myologist

Kathryn Jacoby Szabo, M.S., CCC-SLP

Kathryn Jacoby Szabo earned her B.A. in Biology from Capital University and completed her Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology at Columbia University.  She began her career in New York City, where her work ranged from preschools for multiply-disabled children to public school and rehabilitation/nursing facilities.

 

Katie joined the Specialized Speech Technologies team in January, 2004 as a part-time speech pathologist and is happy to have returned on a full-time basis in August, 2007.  She currently works in adult developmental disability workshops and extended care facilities.

 

Katie came to the field with a background in vocal performance and health sciences.  She has a particular interest in voice and swallowing disorders but also enjoys working with speech and language.  Katie's work has included swallowing therapy, articulation therapy, accent modification, voice and language therapy.

 

Katie is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and the Ohio Department of Education.  She enjoys working with Clients of all ages.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Marissa White, M.A., CCC-SLP

 

Marissa White joined the Specialized Speech Team in August 2019. She graduated from The University of Cincinnati earning her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and then attended Kent State University where she earned her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

 

Marissa has gained experience treating receptive and expressive language disorders, articulation, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency, voice and swallowing disorders, aphasia, autism spectrum disorder, and various cognitive deficits associated with dementia and stroke. Although she enjoys working in a variety of settings with all ages, Marissa particularly enjoys her time spent with pediatric clients in the schools and at the clinic.

 

Marissa is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed through the Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board and the Ohio Department of Education.

Anna Woos, M.S., CCC-SLP

Anna Woos joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in August of 2022. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at The College of Wooster in 2018. In 2020, she earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of Wisconsin-Madison.

 

Since completing graduate school, Anna has worked in both school and outpatient settings where she gained experience serving pediatric populations with a variety of communication needs. Anna particularly enjoys working with individuals with receptive/expressive language disorders, social communication disorders, speech sound disorders, and parent/educator coaching.

 

Anna is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the Ohio Department of Education.

Shuangqi (Joy) Wu, M.S, CCC-SLP

Shuangqi “Joy” Wu joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in August 2023. In 2019, she completed a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s program in Linguistics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Four years later, she received a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. 

 

During graduate school, Joy gained experience working with pediatric and adult clients in settings including university clinics, schools, and outpatient rehabilitation. She enjoys supporting individuals with communication needs and their families and continuing to learn about evidence-based practice. Her interests include but are not limited to receptive/expressive language disorder and augmentative and alternative communication.

 

Joy is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and the Ohio Department of Education.
