Speech Language Pathologists

Mona Mehta, M.A., CCC-SLP

Mona Mehta comes to Specialized Speech in November 2008. She earned her undergraduate degree in Mumbai, India and graduated with a Master’s Degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has experience working in schools, outpatient clinics and in nursing homes. She has worked with children of all age groups with a wide variety of speech and language disorders.

She is particularly interested in infant feeding and swallowing disorders and has continued to gain knowledge and experience in this area throughout her career. She is certified in DPNS and Vital Stim, both which are techniques used in the treatment of swallowing disorders. She is certified with the American Speech and Hearing Association, and is licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech and Hearing Association. She is also a member of the Ohio Speech, Language and Hearing Association (OSHLA).

Speech-Language Pathologist

Department Head

Holly Bottenhorn, M.A., CCC-SLP

 

Holly joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in October 2017. Holly earned her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Ohio University and then completed her Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Toledo.

During graduate school, Holly gained experience with both kids and adults at the university clinic, an autism school, a stuttering clinic, and an acute care hospital. Holly enjoys working with all populations, but is especially interested in child language, autism, and augmentative and alternative communication. Holly is licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech Language Pathology and by the Ohio Department of Education.

Speech-Language Pathologist

 Abigail Goldberg, M.A., CCC-SLP

 

Abigail Goldberg joined Specialized Speech Technologies in August 2019. She graduated from Youngstown State University in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and minor in Piano. In 2016, she received a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Kent State University. She has spent her career thus far working with preschool and elementary age students in the schools. Currently, she is working part time in the K-3 setting. Abigail particularly enjoys working with students with speech sound disorders, motor speech disorders, and language disorders. She hold licenses with the American Speech and Hearing Association, the Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board, and the Ohio Department of Education.

Speech-Language Pathologist

 Megan Grindley, M.S., CCC-SLP

 

Megan Grindley joined Specialized Speech Technologies in June, 2013.  She graduated from the Ohio State University in 2011 earning her Bachelor's Degree in Speech and Hearing Science with a Minor is Disability Studies.  In 2013, she then received her Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology at Bowling Green State University.

 

Megan has enjoyed working in both adult and pediatric settings, and is especially interested in working with the pediatric population.  She enjoys treating individuals with all types of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders and has gained a special interest in treating individuals with phonological disorders and deficits in the area of literacy.

 

Currently, she is working full-time in the schools serving grades K-8.  She also works part-time in the clinic and nursing home, where she looks forward to continue to gain experience with different types of settings and populations.

 

She is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and the Ohio Department of Education.  She is also licensed with the American Speech and Hearing Association.

Speech-Language Pathologist

MacKenzie Hahn, CCC-SLP
 

MacKenzie Snyder joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in August of 2015. She graduated with both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Ohio University.

 

MacKenzie enjoys working in a variety of settings with all ages. In graduate school she gained experience working in clinic, school, rehabilitation center, and hospital settings. MacKenzie especially enjoys working with augmentative and alternative communication and has completed Prentke Romich Company's Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) Words for Life training.

Speech-Language Pathologist

 Allison Haviland, M.S., CCC-SLP

 

Allie Haviland joined Specialized Speech Technologies in July 2013.  She earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Bowling Green State University, and has obtained the Certificate of Clinical Competence with ASHA. She is also licensed through the Ohio Board of Speech and Hearing Professionals and the Ohio Department of Education. Allie has led as the Speech Therapy Department Head at SST, Inc. for two years, but stepped down in 2018 to focus on her passion, serving children with communication needs. She has served children with speech and language disorders in local school districts as well as the clinic setting. Allie enjoys working with pediatric patients, and has interests in a variety of communication disorders. Her areas of strength are in the assessment and treatment of articulation and phonological disorders, language disorders, and fluency disorders.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Penny Montgomery, M.A., CCC-SLP

Penny Montgomery joined the Specialized Speech Team in November 2017. She graduated from Ohio University earning her Bachelor’s degree in Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences and then attended Ohio State University earning her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

 

Penny is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology, the Ohio Department of Education, and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA.  In addition to her licensures, she is PROMPT trained. Penny has experience working with clinic of all ages treating language, articulation, fluency, and social skills. Penny’s areas of interest include working with early intervention population and children with phonological or motor speech disorders.

 

Currently, Penny works full time in time in the schools. In the past she has worked in schools, clinics, and home health; primary working with pediatric clients. She is excited to start working with the wonderful families at SST!

Speech-Language Pathologist

Lauren Rovner, M.S., CCC-SLP

Lauren Rovner joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in September 2019. Lauren earned her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. She completed her Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology at Purdue University.

 

During graduate school, Lauren gained experience with both children and adults in a variety of settings including, the university clinic, an assisted living facility, and schools. Lauren enjoys working with all populations with a variety of speech and language needs. She is especially interested in working with individuals who stutter and augmentative and alternative communication. 

 

Currently, Lauren is working full-time in the schools and also works part-time in the clinic. She is looking forward to gaining experience working in different settings and with various populations. She is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology, the Ohio Department of Education, and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Morgan Shaner, M.A., CCC-SLP

Morgan Shaner joined the Specialized Speech Team in August 2012. She graduated from The Ohio State University, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Morgan is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and the Ohio Department of Education, and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She has been serving preschool and school-age children with a variety of speech and language disorders in local school districts and the clinic setting for the past 7 years. Morgan particularly enjoys working with preschoolers; her areas of strength are in the assessment and treatment of articulation/phonology disorders and language disorders.

Melanie Shultz, M.A., CCC-SLP

 

Melanie Shultz is the President of Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. She earned her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The Ohio State University.

She is a member of the American Speech Language Association and the International Association of Orofacial Myology.

 

She is licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology. Melanie specializes in Myofunctional Therapy (Tongue Thrust Correction and Thumb Sucking Elimination). She has been in practice since 1997 where she worked for a contract company and private practice until October 2001 at which time she opened Specialized Speech Technologies as her own private practice.

Ali Summers, M.A., CCC-SLP

Ali Summers joined the Specialized Speech Team in September 2018. She graduated from Ohio University earning her Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and continued at OU for graduate school to earn her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. 

 

Ali is licensed with the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA. Ali has experienced working with individuals of all ages treating language, articulation, fluency, and social skills in multiple settings including home health early intervention,clinics, schools, private practice, and nursing homes. Ali enjoys working with children and adults to improve their abilities to communicate and interact functionally. 

 

Currently, Ali works full time in the schools. She is excited to start working with the families of SST!

Speech-Language Pathologist

Kathryn Jacoby Szabo, M.S., CCC-SLP

Kathryn Jacoby Szabo earned her B.A. in Biology from Capital University and completed her Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology at Columbia University.  She began her career in New York City, where her work ranged from preschools for multiply-disabled children to public school and rehabilitation/nursing facilities.

 

Katie joined the Specialized Speech Technologies team in January, 2004 as a part-time speech pathologist and is happy to have returned on a full-time basis in August, 2007.  She currently works in adult developmental disability workshops and extended care facilities.

 

Katie came to the field with a background in vocal performance and health sciences.  She has a particular interest in voice and swallowing disorders but also enjoys working with speech and language.  Katie's work has included swallowing therapy, articulation therapy, accent modification, voice and language therapy.

 

Katie is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and the Ohio Department of Education.  She enjoys working with Clients of all ages.

Speech-Language Pathologist

 Amber Torelli, M.A., CCC-SLP

 

Amber joined Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. in November 2015. She graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and Spanish and a minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She earned her Master's degree from Purdue University.

 

Amber enjoys working with individuals on speech and language skills in a variety of settings. In graduate school, she gained experience in multiple settings, including private clinics, schools, early intervention, and hospital settings. She especially enjoys working with the pediatric population and took an interest in phonology and phonological disorders.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Marissa White, M.A., CFY-SLP

 

Marissa White joined the Specialized Speech Team in August 2019. She graduated from The University of Cincinnati earning her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and then attended Kent State University where she earned her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

 

Marissa has gained experience treating receptive and expressive language disorders, articulation, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency, voice and swallowing disorders, aphasia, autism spectrum disorder, and various cognitive deficits associated with dementia and stroke. Although she enjoys working in a variety of settings with all ages, Marissa particularly enjoys her time spent with pediatric clients in the schools and at the clinic.

 

Marissa is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed through the Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board and the Ohio Department of Education.
