NEWS & INFORMATION
Success Story by Katie Garcia, MA, CCC-SLP

William began receiving speech therapy services at Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. at 19 months of age.  His parents had a concern with William's limited vocabulary and wished for him to "use words at more appropriate times."

When he began therapy, William primarily got his wants and needs met through grunting, pointing, and minimal use of words and/or signs.  In a short period of time, William was able to expand his vocabulary skills and also the complexity of his language.

By his 2nd birthday (24 months), William demonstrated expressive language skills comparable to a child 30 months of age.  He has continued to develop his speech sounds and patterns of sounds used in words as well.

William is a fine example of how the benefits of speech therapy paired with parent modeling and natural language development can improve one's overall communication.  We are proud to call William a "Success Story" at Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc.
